The Easter Parade
What shall I wear for the Easter Parade?
A dress that’s the color of marmalade
With a border embroidered
in light blue cornflowers
Like the edge of a meadow
after spring showers
And a matching hat round
as a top you can spin
And elastic to hold it on under my chin
And brand-new shoes
whiter than newly-poured cream
With heart-shaped,
golden buckles that gleam;
And I’ll carry a small purse
of butterfly blue
With a penny for me and a penny for you
To buy us both glasses of cold lemonade
When we walk, hand in hand,
in the Easter Parade.

Easter Everywhere

Rabbits soft and cuddly
Baby chickens, too.
Easter eggs for baskets
White and pink and blue.
Easter cards of greeting,
Music in the air,
Lilies just to tell us
It’s Easter everywhere.

Easter Love
On Easter we celebrate love,
love coming down from heaven,
love blanketing the earth
in a transforming embrace;
unique and infinite love,
giving more than we can imagine
for us, to cleanse our sin,
a perfect sacrifice, Lamb of God,
the walking, talking Word.
He is teacher, role model, friend,
this God in human form,
dying, then rising from the dead,
proving all who believe
will also rise
to have eternal life, with Him,
Lord of all.

and there’s sunshine in your smile.
There’s warmth in all the gladness you impart.
And here’s the special reason
you’re so like this lovely season–
It’s the springtime that you keep within your heart.

What does Easter mean to you?
Is it more than eggs of every hue?
Does the Easter bunny rule your day?
If so there is a better way.
On Good Friday our Savior died.
They hung him on a cross–they pierced his side.
Thorns provided him a cruel crown.
“It is finished” was his final sound.
He died our sinful souls to save,
A borrowed tomb was his grave.
But Good Friday doesn’t end the story,
On Easter morning he arose with glory.
Christ conquered death for you and me,
And made it possible for us to be sin free.
The fact that he arose from the grave
Shows us he has the power to save.
Let us rejoice every day
That Jesus is the life, the truth, and the way.
And that he died, was buried, and rose again,
To complete God’s great salvation plan.

Easter comes but once a year
Easter comes but once a year
But when it does, we all know its here
Children filling themselves with chocolate
Dad’s down the pub for a pint of beer!
We go to the church for the wine and bread
Dad’s half asleep, and jerking his head
Baby sister is here too, munching away
On the free Easter egg that the Priest gave us today
But remember we must, that the Lord died for us
And ascended into heaven to give us fresh lives
For each and every one of us.
