UNCLE
Off he goes to war now
My mother’s father’s son
Far away he leaves proud
May he please not be outdone
A gun upon his shoulder
He wears a prideful grin
He’s going to fight some “martyrs”
Who will only die from sin
She raised him to be an angel
My mother’s mother dear
Through the enemy he’s s’posed to mangle
With other potential angels,
so very close and near
“Why?” They ask “Must this be done?”
“Can’t they talk it out?”
Today, they sent her one and only
Her sweet young innocent son
Families cry for loved ones gone
With strengthening prayers of love
Pulses of pain bring short faint moans
Weaker yet, he’s fighting just to live
Working hard, he reaches base
His friends will help him out!
Meds and bandages cover his face
The doctors were in doubt
Now he works a full time job,
Medals on his wall.
With a wife and kids, his pride is thick,
And he still stands proud and tall

Millions of stars
in the heavens above,
Only one uncle
to cherish and love.
Thousands and thousands
of flowers and trees,
Hundreds and hundreds
of mountains and seas

A special part of childhood days © those tender times of sharing
Remember how we topped the evenings off with fun and laughter?
And made so many memories to last forever after!

Nothing is more precious than those blessings in disguise.
